Mark Lucas and Rick Ryder demonstrated the Gintec Grape Machine during the fourth annual Grape Tailgate Tour on August 23rd at the Henry of Pelham vineyard stop. After a presentation by Helen Fisher from the University of Guelph on her findings of the netting on the grapes, Mark and Rick demonstrated the installation of Gintec ProGuard Grape netting and showed off the many features of the machine. As well as installing netting, the machine is capable of rewinding netting, pruning, installing tape on the bottom for ice wines and many other applications.
The machine is the prototype of Gintec and ready for production. Among many other features, production models will have hydraulic 4-wheel drive and self steering with a feeler system to reduce labour costs.
