Gintec Frost Blanket
Gintec Frost Blankets are manufactured from non-woven polypropylene.
Frost Blankets are put directly over plants or shrubs for frost or freeze
protection, creating a blanket that traps in the ground heat. All sides of the
blanket must be sealed to keep the freezing temperatures outside. There are
two weights of Frost Blankets available for frost and freeze protection. The
heavier the weight, the longer trapped heat will remain under the blanket.
Medium Weight 4 oz. Frost Blanket will protect crops to a temperature of 28
degrees Fahrenheit. For additional protection, use a heavier blanket. When
the temperature reaches freezing, water can be sprinkled over the top of the
blanket. As the water freezes, an igloo effect is maintained trapping what
heat is left protecting the crop.
Heavy Weight 6 oz. Frost Blanket will protect woody ornamental crops to a
temperature of 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Protection below 0 degrees can be
accomplished by sprinkling water over the top of the blanket when temperatures
reach freezing.
Standard widths of Frost Blanket are twelve and fifteen feet. Standard roll
length is three hundred feet. Custom widths from the mill are 12'x15'.
